Review: Nancy Elle Wellness Organic Skin Care

nancy_elle_organicsI recently stumbled upon a fairly new skin care line by Nancy Elle. It’s is one that is organic and free of synthetics and is a great alternative for those looking for a healthier way to cleanse and nourish their skin. She offers 3 distinct lines: Active Vitamin C, Sweet Berry and Triple Rose Complex. I had the opportunity to try out two products from the Sweet Berry line; the Exfoliating Cleansing Creme & Facial Mask and the Exfoliating Toner. (I did have the Overnight Night Creme, but unfortunately glass jars go *splat* in my house.)

The name “Sweet Berry” led me to believe that the products would have a fruity scent, however, it does not and the fragrance is more non-descript. I know this is important to many, especially to those with fragrance allergies. Which, by the way, this line is intended for Non-sensitive skin types.  The Exfoliating Cleansing Creme & Facial Mask has dual use; you can use it as you would typically use a cleanser, rubbing it on your skin in a circular motion and then rinsing off, or you could apply an ample amount of the creme and leave on your face for up to 10 minutes then rinse it off. Either way, this 85% active organics skin nancy_elle_skin_carecleanser will dissolve your dead skin cells, leaving you with much softer skin and a healthier appearance.

The Exfoliating Toner has 98% active organics and is meant for normal, dry or combination skin, however it is not meant for sensitive skin. I personally have combination skin and I noticed that my skin seemed more balanced when using it—less of an oily T-zone and more like normal skin (and the heavens sang!)

You can find Nancy Elle’s products on www.nancyelle.com and orders currently are only taken by phone (but soon they will be available for purchase online.)

I use Nancy Elle – prior to using her products I was a devout Peter Thomas Roth fan, however, now I cannot use anything but N.E.W. and it has made my skin brighter and less irritated. I would not use anything else.

I use the Triple Rose Complex Maximum Hydration Creme (formulated for sensitive skin). I have very dry but sensitive skin and this is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. As a guy, I don’t like the feeling of anything on my face. Not only is it the lightest feeling in the world as far as moisturizers go (is it really there?), it lasts much longer too. Most so-called “moisturizers” actually dry my face, but Nancy Elle Wellness delivers and I think it’s awesome that it’s so natural. Why doesn’t everyone make skin care like this?

how can a toner be exfoliating? this is a strange combination of words to me. i have always wanted to try products with rose in them, but i think all of them are for dry skin :(

  4. Shannon says:

If it has ingredients in it to break down/exfoliate the dead skin cells.

  5. Anna S. says:

oh i see now… i just always thought of exfoliation for skin as a scrub product..

  6. Shannon says:

Nope–actually while you are going through all these posts, there is one from Renee Rouleau on chemical and physical exfoliants. It’s a good read…to exfoliate the skin you don’t necessary need a scrub.

  7. Anna S. says:

Are you talking about a peel one? yes, I actually used your link to go on their website- many interesting products!
and, i am a scrubber, unfortunately- recently i had to stop myself from rubbing my face with a towel too hard. i know this rubbing/scrubbing could contribute to wrinkles.
And, by the way, Marie Claire for September has an article about Japanese approach to skin care- and they also believe that our skin needs more smoothing rather than rubbing. This view is reflected in much of Japanese skincare.

  8. Shannon says:

Renee’s Triple Berry Smoothing Peel is considered an exfoliatant–yes.

    Here’s the post I meant: http://agirlsgottaspa.com/blog/2008/10/chemical-exfoliants-and-physical-exfoliants-compared

Anna S: I have oily skin too, and just started using Nancy Elle’s Rose line. They’ve balanced my skin like nothing else ever has! You should try it!
