Inspired by the Isle of Capri: Sephora’s “Mermaid in the Shade” Collection by Opi

opimermaid

Inspired by the Mediterranean island of Capri, the limited edition nailcolor collection, “Mermaid in the Shade” is the result of a collaboration between Sephora and Opi. Capri is famous for its stunning natural beauty, sun drenched beaches and gorgeous blue waters. It is a destination for luxury laden globetrotters and makes the perfect palette of inspiration for a set of summertime nail color. You may have noticed that blue is a popular trend this summer with all shades of blue infused into primarily eye color and nail color. Pair these dazzling colors for a pretty beach worthy look.

Part of the collaboration between Sephora and OPI, these nail colors tout fun names like “Blue Grotto”, “Water Baby”, “Mermaid in the Shade”, “Just a Fairy-tail” to name a few. Exclusive to Sephora these nail colors are chip resistant, free of yucky chemicals like DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde you can apply without guilt. Check out the other colors in the nailcolor collection here.

That photo of Capri looks stunning. The collection is nice but they should have included some other, more conventional shades, not just blue/green. I am sure there are many flowers on Capri too, and those could have been used as inspiration for color palette as well

I have to admit, when these first came out I wanted to try a few, but never got around to it this summer… Loved the colors — Had a mani done in the spring with a teal-y polish and my BFF told my it looked like I’d been playing “dress up”… So, several weeks went by before I indulged in the blue/teal/turq family for nails, again, and have since rocked “Turned Up Turquoise” by China Glaze on both fingers and toes (at different times) and both were quite cute (i.e. lots of compliments from women). Currently, I have “Watermelon Rind” by China Glaze on my fingers and wasn’t too sure about the color as I applied it — it’s kind of sheer — but by the 3rd coat — WOW! Lovin’ it, too. And I still have a bottle of Pixel (Sally Hanson HD) that I haven’t even opened…

Anyway, about Sephora’s OPI polishes — Are they any different from regular OPI polishes? They are more expensive and Sephora is a “special trip” for me (due to location(s))

I like the Mermaid Shade! I have green eyes, so it would match, and it couldbe a really fun color to wear on my upcoming vacation! I really like how long OPI lasts!

Ah, blue nail polish is near and dear to my heart.

BTW: Mamma would have loved the term “Mermaid Shade”.

I don’t have these but I want them soooo bad! Especially the green shade – it is heavenly!
