  1. Happy Birthday, Shannon! I love your “present” to your followers give-away! (and can’t wait to win it! LOL!)

    Suzy - August 21st, 2009 at 6:52 am
  2. So, I’m wondering, if you have’t provided a link to a review of yours, does that mean you haven’t tried the product, yourself?

    Suzy - August 21st, 2009 at 6:57 am
  3. Of the specific products mentioned here? No. But I can tell you things I have tried from each brand that participated that I have reviewed or tried (but didn’t get around to writing a review yet!)

    Dove Ultimate Clear Deodorant: http://agirlsgottaspa.com/blog/2007/04/review-dove-ultimate-clear-in-smooth-cashmere

Three Custom Color Specialists–I wear their cool bronzer and light clarifying pencil. (I need to write a review on these!)

The Body Shop: Wow it’s been a while, I think their soap…

jeune d’age organics: Their toner, serum, cleanser and lotion (review in the works!)

Darphin: Lipgloss….I’d have to search to find that review; a perfect light pink. I loved it.

Renee Rouleau: Triple Berry Smoothing Peel (another review in the works–awesome awesome stuff!)

Milani: lipgloss, mineral pressed powder, etc. I think that review is on a blog I used to write for.

  4. Kind of a side-note — Did you know that Hawaii celebrates its 50th birthday of becoming a state, today? You and Hawaii have the same b’day — That’s pretty cool.

  5. Happy Birthday – that is a whopper of a birthday present!

  6. Happy Birthday! My own Bday is coming next month and I have been slightly depressed over it, since apparently I will be in school all day long- listening to grad accounting lectures, lol. What a way to spend Bday- hope yours will be great fun!
As far as products – i guess Walgreens in our state doesnt carry Milani- I have been wanting to try that brand, but cannot find it anywhere…

  23. I have tried the “Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist” , And I love it. When it comes to my hair I have no broblems. I have also started using the dove hair conditioner. I used to buy a different brand of conditioner because I thought it would be the only thing that I liked. Some conditioners are really watery or they are just something to make your hair smell good. Dove has come along way when it comes to hair products.

    Vanessa Flores - August 22nd, 2009 at 1:54 pm
  24. Wow, what a wonderful giveaway! Geez, I would be willing to jump through so many hoops to win this one, but I believe in giving all blogs their fair share of time and not just one in particular. I have submitted tweets, facebook posts, diggs, stumbles, kirtsy, technorati, blogging on my blog, etc. to win one prize, but not spending hours posting all over one blog. It’s a shame you can’t ask us to jump through hoops promoting your blog instead of just commenting all over it. Happy Birthday though! I would rethink things next time :-)

    Joanna Smith - August 22nd, 2009 at 2:04 pm
  25. I started doing some research on the Body Shop Tea Tree Collection. I started reading that Kenya contains anti-bacterial properties that help fight blemishes and prevent new ones from forming. That would help out allot for me if it works, who know if I won I would not have to buy it to try it and it would be a great benifit for me. I have tried proactive and it has done nothing but make my skin so tender.

    Vanessa Flores - August 22nd, 2009 at 3:04 pm
  26. I am 27 . I have never had a weight problem until I had children. I wanted to say that the Renée Rouleau Anti-Cyst Treatment would be of great use to me. I weighed in at 160 lbs at the age of 19 and now i weigh a good 250 lbs. I am not saying that is good. As soon as I started gaining weight I started to get cysts, and they are so pain full. I have tried to lose the weight but i have a hard time with no motavation to do so. I mean My husband eats too and he was skinnier than me when we got married. LOL. I will just tell you my whole life story by the time this sontest is over.

  37. I give up. I haven’t lost my competitive spirit — it’s apparent that others want it more and I have a life outside my computer keyboard. LOL.

I really had a blast reading through your blog, yesterday, though. I keep think about your taupe snake skin flats… You do know about the website 6pm.com, right? For lack of a better description, it’s a clearance website for zappos.com. I’ve gotten some really good deals on there — And, it’s the ONLY place I can afford Stuart Weisman and some other fab designers!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Shannon!

  42. im a cosmetologist and i agree w/ everything u said on how not to damage ur hair. there are a lot of uv protection products out there. im most familiar w/ redken products since i work and was trained in a salon that only uses redken. try redkens after sun shampoo and the mask is AWESOME. we also have a color extend line that helps protect color from the sun. good job passing on tips to everyone!

    kimi - August 23rd, 2009 at 9:16 am
  43. Suzy, you should not give up. It does seem that you do want this as bad as me. Ya, I do want to encourage you to keep going it is just one last day. I have only this one chance to do something like this. I am out of school until wednesday and I am takeing time to do this instead of cleaning LOL . Maybe if I had these products I would be treating my self to a SPA day . GOOD luck

    Vanessa Flores - August 23rd, 2009 at 10:05 am
  44. To thosewho do think this is just a waist of time… Come on. You do not have to leave your rude comment. If it is a contest it can be help in any way shape or form that the contest holder choses. This is my first time doing something like this. I think it being some one elses birthday , and they are willing to give away things to someone else is a self less act. So I give you Props for holding this contest. Let the best Lady or man win.

    Vanessa Flores - August 23rd, 2009 at 10:07 am
  45. Thank you Vanessa–the entire purpose of the contest was for readers new and old to learn more about me, my blog and be able to interact with all of you.

    Shannon - August 23rd, 2009 at 10:09 am
  46. Kimi, I thought about singing the same song to, and I was sing the monkey part, and was like maybee she would not like me to say monkey , I would hate to smell like a monkey. I am pretty sure, after using all these products Monkey would not be the right word. LOL

  47. I want to see if any one can help. I have tried so many face cleaners. I have a huge acne problem. It is so bad that I cant stand, or i get realy imberaced when my husband tries to hug me and gets close to my face. I cry sometimes. I just want my husband to be able to put his hand on my face and give me a romantic touch. I cant let him because the thought of him touching my pimples is horible. I wake up some mornings and have to go strait to the bathromm to make sure that I have no white heads. Gross right? I am 27 and still the acne has yet to seize. i am starting to get holes in my face that are noticible because of so many years haveing acne. I have tried pro active and other things but they seem to make it worse. They told me that it would get worse because it was pulling all the grime out. Well, need less to say I could not take it I looked like a monster. I also had to deal with it being painful. So, I quit using it. The only thing that clears up my skin is heat. So i find my self getting a sunburn on my face. Ya, cancer scares me, but the fact of haveing a clear face for a few day is nice. I once was going to buy a machine that actually produces heat for pimples but it was so expensive i could not afford it. So, I saved up my money. By the time I could aford it I went to CVS and it was no longer being sold. So, maybe it did not work or they wernt selling enough of them. Gosh I need some advice. I do not want to be 40 and still have severe acne.

    Vanessa Flores - August 23rd, 2009 at 10:27 am
  48. I SOOOOO love this idea! Birthdays are SOOO important and I think too many people out there don’t appreciate them like they should. It is the ONE day every year to celebrate somebody or something! Who can’t appreciate that?! Who can’t remember that?! Thanks for the reminder!

    Amanda - August 23rd, 2009 at 11:42 am
  49. Happy B-Day! This would definitely be a great beauty prize package for a birthday! Just reading the list of beauty products deserves a positive “Wow, OMG, yes, I so want!” response.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter and to see a sweeps done up in grand style.

  51. Shannon, is the Dove Ultimate Clear Deodorant a 24 hour deodorant? I have used the clinical protection deodorant. I liked it. I also have recently started using the little fragrences that they just came out with. I uses them right out of the shower, and I smell good all day.

    Vanessa Flores - August 23rd, 2009 at 1:59 pm
  52. Vanessa, yes, at the top of the blog it says “subscribe” and you just put in your email address after clicking on it and it will send you the reviews direct to your inbox.

I do have two male reviewers and we’ve started doing more male skin care reviews. Nando does video reviews and Zeke does regular text reviews.

As for Dove Ultimate Clear, it is just a regular deodorant–it just smells good and is invisible.

    dawn - August 23rd, 2009 at 10:16 pm
  64. I just read your post about your acne, Vanessa and I can relate! I had severe acne from the time I was 12 until I was about 25…and still, more than 20 years later, have breakouts. The good news is that us oily-skinned folks tend to look younger, longer… But, I know that’s not what you want to hear, right now…

You didn’t mention it, but have you seen a dermatologist? That was the only thing that really worked for me…anti-biotics and salicylic acid and retin A and Rx washes (actually, I used to was my face with a Rx dandruff shampoo that really worked! — I wish I could remember the name…) and that was like 30 years ago — I’m sure treatments are even more advanced, today. Most insurance will cover dermatology visits and prescriptions for acne. Please, consult a dermatologist if you have not already done so — and if you have, I’d recommend seeking out a different one! Over-the-counter products (ProActive, etc) haven’t worked for you – see a professional. You and your skin deserve it! Good luck.

    Suzy - August 23rd, 2009 at 11:34 pm
  65. You know I should do that. I have insurance but never thought it would cover. I will take your advise into consideration. I have seen the infomertiols on tv and there are people with skin like mine that said they did not get the help they were looking for from their dermentologist.

    Vanessa Flores - August 23rd, 2009 at 11:38 pm
  66. OK it is 2AM hear and I am done I am so tiered . I do not think I won but I gave it a try. It is my kids first day back to school tomorrow . So I need to get some shut eye. Good luck ANNA. So I am going to finish my coke and hope for the best. HAPPY B-DAY I HOPE you keep up the good work. I will be back for another round next Time. I am so gald that your blog was the first one I have tried . I have learneds so many things about so many products. WHAT A self less act. You deserve a metel . For supporting regular normal men and women chose the best products. I have also learned alott about my skin and ready to do something about it. In the next year I will have tried a million SMELL GOODS as my daughter would say.

    Vanessa Flores - August 24th, 2009 at 12:03 am
  67. Good night Vanessa. For your skin- try aspiring mask. i have acne too – not as bad as your but they keep coming… Mix aspirin tablets in water (couple is enough) with your favorite cleanser. My skin cleared up in a month- u just gotta keep doing it every day. It did help me

    Anna S. - August 24th, 2009 at 12:07 am
  68. you could mix aspirin with honey, but honey broke me out…. so just add aspirin to another scrub you already use

    Anna S. - August 24th, 2009 at 12:08 am
  69. Way to go Anna! 533 comments means you WIN! Congrats!

    Shannon - August 24th, 2009 at 6:16 am
  70. Thank you Shannon! I just send you an e-mail. It was a long journey through 130 pages of reviews, but it was lots of fun! I appreciate the time and work that went into writing all these reviews- before I always assumed that most blogs are only a year or two old. Now I see that some, like yours, have a long history. I wish you success and many more blogs to come :)
    Thanks again….

    Anna S. - August 24th, 2009 at 8:31 am
  71. Vanessa – Ok, so you’ve seen the infomercials with folks saying they had skin like yours and did not get results from a dermatologist they were looking for — hmm… But, have you gotten the results you are looking for with what you have tried? It doesn’t sound like it! If you had a headache, and you tried aspirin, and Tylenol, and panadol, and Advil, and Excedrin and anything and everything you saw advertised on TV or home remedies friends suggested, and you still had a headache — would you go finally go to the doctor for relief? Acne is really no different. You can never CURE it, per se, but a board certified dermatologist that specializes in acne can really help you get it under control — you’ll look better and feel better. Here’s a website that can help you find a lot of good info about acne and how to treat it, as well as find a good dermatologist: http://www.realself.com/find Get a consultation — you’ve got nothing to lose but the acne! Good luck!

    Suzy - August 24th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
  72. Congratulations Anna! Well done!
