Review: Cover FX Skin Tint and Radiant FX

20090804-coverfx-skin-tintJust this past week the story broke that skin cancer is the number one form of cancer in the U.S. As someone who has had family members who have battled skin cancer (and survived) and one that did not (she passed 3 months after learning she had melanoma), I take this so very seriously. While I do love to hang out at the beach with my 4 sons donning SPF 30 sunscreen, I definitely know my limit on sun exposure. Which, of course, results in me looking unusually pale compared to my sun kissed friends and family. To fake that summer glow, I turn to sunless tanners and Cover FX’s Skin Tint and Radiant FX Bronzer.

Skin Tint: This is a great oil-free tinted moisturizer. The best part is that it is sweat-proof, which is quite the lifesaver on humid days here in the Poconos. It also has an SPF of 30, so while you’re sporting a sunless glow, you are still protecting your skin when you are out in the actual sunshine. The Skin Tint comes in a variety of colors, which is great because one-bronzer-color does not fit all, as I am sure you will agree.

Radiant FX: This is a great all-over powder. So not only can you use it to accent your face, you can lightly sweep it across your arms, legs, etc. as well. It doesn’t look overdone and it certainly is not glitter-looking either (such as the case was with L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronzer). For those of you allergic to talc, you’ll be happy to know that Radiant FX is talc-free (as well as fragrance-free, paraben-free and oil-free.) The powder is super lightweight and while the Golden Bronze color may look a bit dark, especially if you are as light skinned as I am, there isn’t a stark contrast of color when you apply it to your skin. Just simply natural looking with a bit of shimmer.

Cover FX is available at Sephora. Have you tried either product?

  2. “Pale is Pretty” — is my motto as I strive to limit my sun exposure and skin cancer risk. I get a full-body mole check every May and had 4 removed, this year, alone. All came back non-cancerous. Phew!

That said, of course I need to moisturize and use SPF 30 (or higher) here in the desert and have often turned to tinted moisturizers (DDF Enhancing Sun Protection is my current fave.) However, it’s not water-proof. I would LOVE to try Skin Tint and give that “sweat-proof” claim a work-out here in the desert heat!

  3. i am naturally pale, but love the bronzed look. Sunless tanners do turn orange-y on me, so i have to tan a during summer days. I try to use SPF on my body, but my face tends to break out for some reason when i use SPF on it..

  4. I have oily skin, will this SkinFX tinted moisturizer work for me? I’m always hesitant to try a tinted moisturizer because they end up leaving me shiny only minutes after applying the makeup. I like the lightweight feel of tints, but most don’t work for me.

  5. I would really love to try both of these products! I haven’t been in the sun the entire summer and I am pale! I would love to try these before our trip to St. Thomas in October!

  6. I haven’t tried either product,
but this summer was the first
    I skipped the tan so I wouldn’t
treat my skin to cancer’s worst.

I’m the color of a lily
    or a marshmallow, left UN-toasted.
So I’d love to try this skin tint
to look bronzed, but not get roasted!

  7. I’ve made the mistake of using tanning beds in the past and since I’m naturally pale that was an especially stupid move. Never again. I would love to try the SkinFx tinted moisturizer and bronzer!

  8. I have had very bad experiences with tan lotions. I would turn orange. I would also be walking around without the knowledge of the white skin that i happened to miss while applying it. So embaricing.

  9. Have you seen the show called my Antonio? There is a girl that goes on there and she looks like an orange. I stop to think if that is the way I looked. I hope that cover fx will live up to what i expect.

  10. I was raised on a lake.. LOL by a lake. I would set there for hours. I never knew at that age the risk of skin cancer , and now that I look back it is pretty scary.
