Review: CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara

20090816-covergirl-lashblast-length

I’ve tried out the original LashBlast when it first came out, and while I wasn’t too impressed at first, I eventually warmed up to it. If you are anything like me, then you are endlessly searching for “the one,” that holy grail of mascara. Is CoverGirl LashBlast Length the one?

covergirl-lashblastlengthWhile LashBlast Length isn’t it, I still liked it and think it’s pretty darn good for a $7 drugstore brand. As you can see from the picture, the applicator is pretty long and it separates your lashes leaving you clump-free. The formula itself contains nylon fibers that attach to your lashes to create the look of natural looking length. It definitely lived up to its claims of being smudge and smear proof.

I don’t wear contacts, so I’m not sure if this mascara is safe for contact wearers due to the nylon fibers. If you fall into that category please do share in the comments what your experience with this mascara was like.

Based on the picture, what do you think?

honestly i think it looks horrable if its even on her im mean its just like idk maybe its just her eyes??

  2. Moe says:

    Looks natural enough to me.

  3. meredith says:

I think it looks great! I just ordered a few tubes from Amazon based on your review. Thanks!

i used loreal double extender and although the fibers gave me length, BOY was it hard to take off! Even with oil free makeup remover. I had to sit there for at least 10 mins pulling them off which is NOT good for your lashes. Does this cover girl one do that? Let me know :)

  5. Shannon says:

What’s funny is that I didn’t even notice the fibers at all, so I didn’t realize fibers were involved in the length process until I read the package. So not noticeable at all. I’ve tried Blinc (tubes on you lashes) and Imju Fiberwig and both of those took some pulling to get the fibers/tubes off.

  6. Anna S. says:

I am used to a more dramatic look for my lashes- and I achieve it by using Loreal’s Telescopic mascara. I can see that someone that loves natural look would like the CG Lash Blast- personally, I will stick to my femme fatale look and Telescopic

  7. Suzy says:

I’m blessed with great lashes; and I’m extremely picky when it comes to mascara. This looks good on you, Shannon – soft and pretty. I like natural mascaras as anything too dramatically lengthening and I end up sweeping my lashes against the inside of my sunglasses! This would probably work for me IF it was water-proof and stood up to my oily skin (no smudging in less than 9 hours) and didn’t irritate my contact lenses and was easy to remove with my regular face cleanser — no oils or special products needed. For the price, I just might have to try the waterproof version when it comes out…

  8. MsKianaluv says:

I’ve been a Lancome girl when it comes to mascara, but my wallet has become a lot skinnier as of late…so I’m definitely looking at some of the drugstore brands. Thanks for the review. btw is this a waterproof formula? if not, does this have one and is it comparable to this formula? sometimes the waterproof formula ends up being a completely different product from the regular formula, even if it claims to be the same with the same type of packaging.

  9. Shannon says:

Not waterproof that I know of. I’m not a fan of waterproof mascara’s at all, with the exception of Prescriptives 24/7 one.

  10. Jennifer C. says:

I would like to try this mascara – it didn’t look clumpy, which is what I usually find with a drugstore mascara.

  11. Tina says:

I have always been searching for the “one perfect mascara” that gives me length without clumpiness.
So far, Dior Diorshow has come closer than any other
mascara I’ve tried but I’ll keep searching!

  12. Daphne says:

I’d love to try this wonder stuff
My lashes look like tiny spikes
I want them to look fantabulous
    Not like some tiny tikes!

    Her lashes, they look marvelous
But what did they look like before?
    (Both before and after pics
    could convince your readers more!)

  13. Shannon says:

Daphne, I actually have an encyclopedia of mascara’s over at my fan page so readers can view how all of the different mascara’s look on my lashes. That way you can compare the difference: http://www.facebook.com/agirlsgottaspa

  14. Vanessa Flores says:

Styleezta, I love the double extender, I do not realy have that hard of a time taking it off. I use regular soap and water and just lightly rub them. I have also tried lash clast, and it did nothing for my eyes. I like the long out there eye lashes. I have beutiful green eyes and the long lashes makes it even better.

Shannon I think you for the review and I plan on doing the can page. I love mascara

  15. Vanessa Flores says:

Shannon my favorite was the BadGal Blue and my least fave was the double twist. It looked real messy. The BadGal blue looked realy natural and made your lashes realy pretty. I am going to have to try it. Does it come in black?

  16. Shannon says:

I think there is a regular BadGal…I just wanted to try out the blue since it was said to make my eyes greener looking.

  17. Vanessa Flores says:

I have never tried a green. But it looked nice on you . Maybe I should exp with it.

  18. Shannon says:

lol no, my eyes are green–but BadGal in the color blue is said to make them appear greener.

  19. Vanessa Flores says:

LOL ya silly me blue what was I thinking. Oh I have been blogging too long.My eyes are green also. I Yes blue I even put BadGal Blue. I hope you get this.. I can not find the pod cast Help..

  20. Shannon says:

Oh that’s because I stopped doing it a few years ago.

  21. Vanessa Flores says:

Oh ya, In the photo they look brown, with a hint of green. My eyes are a almost neon green because they have a hint of yello. I have tried a green before. BUT not a blue. Its time for me to hit the sack. LOL

  22. Vanessa Flores says:

  23. Deb Klein says:

I have been looking for a good mascara maybe I will try this one as this is about the only one I haven’t tried..

  24. Vanessa Flores says:

Deb, Do you remember which is your favorite. I love my lashes to be thick and just uthere. I think your eye lashes realy make a difference in the eye popping term.

  25. Courtney says:

I have not tried this mascara yet, but I have been anxious to try, as I have short lashes, yet voluminous…

I do wear contacts though and when I first got my contacts they gave me a list of mascara’s and ect. that were safe for contact wearers, and this was on it, along with the regular lash blast.
