Review: Marie Louise Cosmetics Restoration Clear Gel

exfoliating_gelThis winter is doing a number on my skin, both my body and face. And thanks to Punxsutawney Phil (really when has he ever NOT seen his shadow?!), 6 more weeks of winter means fighting off flaky skin. I love winter for the beautiful snowfall, but I hate it for the chaos it wreaks on my skin.

Marie Louise Cosmetics sent me their Restoration Clear Gel, which is a unique exfoliating gel, that gently removes dead skin cells. I say unique because of what happens once you apply this gel to your face and massage it.

After cleansing your face with your usual cleanser, you’ll want to pat your face dry. It took about 4 pumps of the gel to cover my whole face. The gel is cloudy and not too thick, but not watery thin either. You then gently massage the gel over your face starting at the center and working your way out. You will immediately notice that massaging yields small, grey, paper-like particles.

Do you remember back in school when you made recycled paper? How it was at first bits of tiny grey particles? That’s what it looks like, except, and I may be wrong, I think it is your dead skin cells. Kind of gross, but also kind of cool to actually see it being lifted away. So in a sense, you see it working. (I suggest using this product in the shower so that you can just rinse it down the drain.)

Once I rinsed off my face it seriously was smooth as a baby’s behind. Wow. I applied my usual toner and a hydrating moisturizer and my skin looked and felt awesome.

Now this product is slightly on the pricey side, $51, but it is 100ml and since you only need about 4 pumps using it once a week, it will last a while. You can find it at: www.MarieLouiseCosmetics.com

  1. During the winter my skin is very dry and a powerful exfoliant that can remove the dull and unveil my soft skin again would be ideal. Thanks for sharing your experience with this product. It sounds like a product I need for my skin.
