If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times…I love love love discovering indie beauty brands. Especially when their products are amazing! Do you agree? So when I was contacted by the owner of Silky Cosmetics prior to their launch, I was excited to give their bath and body products a spin. And while I said, yes please, my skin said: Thank you!
Whipped Sugar Body Polish: Welcome to heaven…or rather– Bliss. This mixture of coconut oil, shea butter, soy bean oil and sugar delights your spirit with the fragrance of papaya and florals. It’s juicy and sweet with the light scent of freshly bloomed flowers. The consistency is actually dreamy creamy and mousse-like. The sugar gently exfoliates your skin and the oils soften it without leaving behind a greasy residue.
Body Creme: An SNL sketch comes to mind when I think of all of the butters in this little gem. Shea butter, cocoa butter and mango butter will leave no doubt in your mind that your skin will be properly hydrated in no time. Just like the sugar scrub, the consistency of this creme is like mousse except a bit richer and thicker. It glides over your skin and is quickly absorbed. While the fragrance is strong, it is not overpowering. And quite honestly, when I use this product people actually stop me to ask me the name of the perfume I am wearing.
One piece of advice when using the sugar scrub is to not take it into the part of the shower where it could get water in its tub. I should’ve listened when I read that the first time, but I shrugged it off until water in my polish turned it from a beautiful pink to white. It still had the same butt kicking action to terminate my dry flaky skin, but I realized that water in the tub of polish greatly reduced its shelf life.
