One thing that intrigued me is the shade of violet that the forumla is available in. It is a limited-edition color and is named “Purple Impression”. I have been seeing more and more shades of purple eye color for spring. I haven’t yet delved in to the non-black mascaras, yet but I will be trying purple this spring when the weather warms up. This shade is dark enough not to look garish or costume-y as would a shade of blue. I plan to layer this over my regular shade of black mascara as well, for a subtle purple/black effect. What do you think of the Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Effet Extension in Purple Impression’s? Will you try purple mascara this spring?

I love this product so much that I spray it on me about four to five times a day (I love to smell good, but don’t we all?) Sure, 4-5 times a day sounds like fragrance overload, but re-spritzing is because the scent doesn’t linger on your skin for very long. I do wish that the fragrance would last a bit longer, though because I just absolutely adore this scent. It smells nice and vibrant when you first put it on, but slowly fades throughout the day.

I’m usually very picky when it comes to perfumes and scents and dislike the really strong, overbearing smells. But with this fragrance, it’s not too strong but not too light, it’s just strong enough to get your coco-nutty smell across! Do you love coconut just as much as I do? Have you tried any of the scents in the Harajuku Lovers collection?

I recently received a hair care question from A Girl’s Gotta Spa! reader, Jessica. For this particular question I decided to reach out to my friend, hair care expert and celebrity hairstylist, Jon Reyman (yes, that Jon Reyman pictured with me and Pearson Knight from my makeover challenge). Jon is also President and one of the pros behind Beautyvt.com.

“Hi, I have a question. I have straight, long hair and it’s kinda frizzy, its not extremely frizzy, but enough where it gets on your nerves. I was wondering if you can give me a great shampoo and conditioner brand that will give my hair shine, no frizz, and be healthy. I also don’t want to use any hairspray or gels, I just want to use shampoo and conditioner to keep it simple. I would really appreciate your help. –Jessica”

Jon’s response: 

Often times women have the tendency to over clean hair and this causes it to be frizzy. If your hair is not naturally oily you should not shampoo it everyday. I recommend to my clients that they shampoo when the hair is actually dirty not because they think they should shampoo. I have some clients that wash their hair once a week. I I would recommend getting it wet everyday and conditioning it often, but shampoo it as little as possible. If you work out, rinse it and condition- sweat washes out with water. If the hair is flat and fine I recommend shampooing often and conditioning less. For product, I recommend Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner.

The Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir is meant to heal and relax tired muscles as well as relieve every day stresses. Perfect if you are sitting at a computer all day, like me! It contains Iceland moss as a main ingredient. The label also mentions that the ingredients are authenticated by Kew Royal Botanic Gardens. The smell of the elixir is a bit heavy and smoky, but sweet…and the liquid is very thick like the consistency of honey. It also generates loads of bubbles, for a nice frothy and sweet smelling bath. You only need about a tablespoon for each bath, a little bit goes a long way. I also love the classic apothecary-style glass bottle, it makes a nice presentation on my bathroom’s etagere shelf.
